Hello my baby

Here is a little animation I have been working on during my train rides to work. It is based off the old Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies animtion, One Froggy Evening.

This is still a work in progress, I need to add in face controls to get in some facial animation but I though I might as well show where it is at now.

Up and down

Just a little frog jump. The more I watch this over and over the more problems I see with it. I will have to do another pass over it and clean up some of the timing mainly. I also really need to get back in and fix up the rig in the ankles, really not deforming right.

I think he has just been for a swim or something, so glossy.

WIP (walk in progress)

Now he is walking (it’s a low quality render because trying to set up a quick render on my laptop wasn’t easy, I’ll post a 3D render that looks nice one of these days, I promise).

Making it a GIF speeds up the animation and I’m too tired to figure out how to fix it right now so yeah.

Getting animated (WIP)

Decided to start animating this guy while I was on the train today. This is just the first pass, I need to clean it up a bit and add in some secondary stuff. I also noticed a weird thing going on with the ankles so I will have to go back to the rig and fix that.

Forever running

Frogs in 3D

So here is a grog guy I have been working on for a little while now. Sculpted and textured in Zbrush and retopologised in Maya. I just set up a quick render in Vray to see how a bit of sub surface scatter would look but I think I will end up doing something flatter, maybe more of a cel shaded look.

Next I will rig him up and do a few animations.

Something a little different

So far I have only shown sketches (and one quick digital painting) but I am actually a 3D artist, mainly specialising in animation, however I have been getting into sculpting a bit more lately for work. So I decided to have a go at a quickish sculpt of a frog over the last few days during my lunch breaks.

So this guy was sculpted and textured in Zbrush then rendered with Vray and a few quick touchups in Photoshop. I’d love to have another go soon and put a lot more time into it, as you can see I didn’t really put much time into the feet and also the shaders and rendering was kind of done in a hurry.
Here is another frog like thing that I thought I would add to this post. A few years ago I went to a talk about creature design hosted by Neville Page and it made me super enthusiastic about creature design for a couple of months. This is one of the creatures I came up with. I also sculpted this in Mudbox and intended to make a short animation (which I still think I will do at some point) but have not got around to texturing yet.
