Witty Title about a frog……

Can’t think of a title right now…

So I’ve had this idea for a graphic novel (about frogs unsurprisingly…) that I started working on about 5 years ago but then fell into a bit of a rut. When I started this blog it was meant to help me restart the thing. I got about 2 pages sketched back when I started the blog then kind of forgot about it….


Anyway, I was looking over my sketches the other day and I really liked this one that I did for the cover image and decided I should have a go at inking and colouring it to kind of get back into it but also get an idea of how I want it to end up looking.
This isn’t really how I had pictured it in my head but I kind of like how it turned out. It is a lot more saturated than I planned and also a bit cleaner. The big inspiration I had way back when I started this was Mouse Guard by David Petersen so in my mind it was kind of more that style.


But it turns out I actually really like what I did with it, I’m not sure it really fits in with the story and setting but I am reworking a lot of that anyway so I think it could work (which is really handy because I will be able to recreate this style pretty easy when I finally get around to doing the whole comic 😛 )

So here he is, Frog Guy (not final name…)

Today I have a picture of a desert rain frog, I think these are probably the cutest frogs out there and if you have never watched the video of one on youtube, I highly recommend it.

So here is a grog guy I have been working on for a little while now. Sculpted and textured in Zbrush and retopologised in Maya. I just set up a quick render in Vray to see how a bit of sub surface scatter would look but I think I will end up doing something flatter, maybe more of a cel shaded look.

Next I will rig him up and do a few animations.

Been busy today so this is a bit later than normal.

It’s a little frog cutting up stuff, not much more to say. Trying out some different things with this one.

So I’ve been a bit lazy today and this is all I really have to post. So for anyone that doesn’t know, I’m know as Muffin online so this is a profile pic I for myself (really I just modified an older, non frog, one I had).

So yeah, it’s a frog muffin.

Going for a walk

So I decided to try out Clip Studio Paint since I hear such great things about it. This was my first go with it. I will keep using it while I have the free trial but it has not sold me yet.

Just a blue frog going for a walk near a lake. Backgrounds are something I really need to put more time and effort into.

So I got myself a new 2 in 1 laptop today and I painted this wee guy to test it out. I’m quite liking it and I’m looking forward to what I am going to be able to produce in the future.
