Frogs from the past

Here are a couple of drawings of frogs that have been frogotten over the ages.

First up we have a prehistoric chicken. Little know fact but there were little chickens in the past that were ridden into battle by frogs…..
Here we have “a forgotten Greek god” so of course I had to go with the Frog God who has been lost to the sands of time.

Prepare for trouble

Just one drawing today. I finally got around to seeing Detective Pikachu yesterday so I thought this one would be fitting.

I think the task for this one was a cartoon villain.

Something a little different

So far I have only shown sketches (and one quick digital painting) but I am actually a 3D artist, mainly specialising in animation, however I have been getting into sculpting a bit more lately for work. So I decided to have a go at a quickish sculpt of a frog over the last few days during my lunch breaks.

So this guy was sculpted and textured in Zbrush then rendered with Vray and a few quick touchups in Photoshop. I’d love to have another go soon and put a lot more time into it, as you can see I didn’t really put much time into the feet and also the shaders and rendering was kind of done in a hurry.
Here is another frog like thing that I thought I would add to this post. A few years ago I went to a talk about creature design hosted by Neville Page and it made me super enthusiastic about creature design for a couple of months. This is one of the creatures I came up with. I also sculpted this in Mudbox and intended to make a short animation (which I still think I will do at some point) but have not got around to texturing yet.

Big Things

A couple of drawings of frogs with big creatures today.

“A pile of giraffes” because why not I guess? These are either two very large frogs or a pyramid of tiny giraffes but I guess it doesn’t really matter when I have anthropomorphic frogs drinking champagne…
I think this one was “a troll” and who fights trolls? a wizard I guess.

So here are a bunch of quick drawing I did recently on post-it notes at work. This is kind of what got me back into drawing after probably about a 6 month hiatus. Posting them on twitter is also what got me to finally start this blog.

Ink Beginnings

So now we get up to the point where I started working with pens.

This is an odd one… A person made of fruit, so yeah, a frog guy making a fruit sculpture of another frog guy I guess….
Roller Disco Frog. This is a more recent one that I did after playing a lot of Splatoon 2 and I got into this habit of drawing afros on everyone…

Shipwrecked

So this day I had two goes at the task, which as the title suggests, was a shipwreck. I think this is one of those days at work where I didn’t have much to do so I spent a bit more time drawing than I normally would….

Here is my first attempted which ended up being my favourite one. Just some little (or I guess quite large actually) frogs searching a ship at the bottom of the ocean.
The second go at a shipwreck, I had this idea in my heap that there was going to be this big space battle out the window of a ships bridge or space station or something. It didn’t really work out the way I had planned it so I never got around to finishing it. But anyway, here it is.

A little old and a little new

I was a bit bored at lunch time today so I did a quick digital painting. It’s been a while since I done something in photoshop other than texturing 3D models so it was fun to get back into that.
Another old sketch from the drawing tasks day. I can’t exactly remember what this one was but it’s safe to say it had something to do with a hat, a forgotten hat maybe? hmmmm
